Industrial Designer - MN Based - Hybrid

Minneapolis, MN
Full Time
Experienced
Join Insignia as a Industrial Designer and help shape how brands come to life at retail. In this role, you’ll transform customer requirements and creative briefs into functional, compelling display concepts that balance brand vision, manufacturing capabilities, and material considerations. You’ll create visual outputs that guide projects forward, collaborate with vendors on prototypes, and provide design expertise that supports both sales and internal teams.

The ideal candidate is equal parts engineer and creative problem-solver—someone who understands the mechanics of design while also pushing boundaries to find unique solutions that meet retailer standards. If you enjoy concepting, optimizing, and collaborating across teams to bring bold retail displays to life, this is your opportunity to make an impact.

Position Responsibilities
  • Develop custom display designs that align with client requirements, retailer standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Concept creative approaches to communicate brand vision in-store, identifying optimal design outputs to explain the “why” behind each choice.
  • Scale and adapt internal and external concepts to meet retailer guidelines and validate expectations against original assumptions.
  • Partner with cross functional team members, clients and vendors to align on project needs and ensure design accuracy.
  • Brief vendors by clearly articulating non-negotiables versus “nice-to-haves” for approved concepts.
  • Oversee prototype development to confirm design intent and ensure manufacturability.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of retailer standards and eventually serve as a resource to educate others on guidelines and best practices.

How to Know if You’re a Fit
  • Bachelor’s degree or background in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design, with strong understanding of design/engineering principles.
  • 3+ years of experience in point-of-purchase display manufacturing.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks 2020 or later; basic knowledge of KeyShot, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with materials and manufacturing processes used in display and fixture construction.
  • Skilled at efficiently creating accurate design drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on knowledge of measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.

At Insignia, we’re passionate about turning creative ideas into retail experiences that inspire shoppers and elevate brands. As a Industrial Designer, you’ll play a key role in driving innovation, optimizing design execution, and ensuring our solutions connect at every step of the retail journey. If you’re ready to combine technical design expertise with creative vision, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and help us build what’s next.
